With the moon hanging high in the sky, Hades approached the small area of water he could see. His feet danced across the river stones, not making a sound. The stars and moon lay reflected in the river, drawing him closer.
He was sad. It was easy to see in his pale yellow eyes. He was hurt and lonely and sad once more. He'd been rejected for the millionth time.
"My search for love is useless," he muttered quietly, finding his way to the edge of the water and looking down. "Am I ugly? Am I disgusting? Is that what I look like?"
He sighed and searched his own face, trying to find some fault that all the other females seemed to find. He couldn't find one. He could only see his usual lankiness, the same black-brown pelt he'd had since birth.
They always went for the strong, muscular brutes. Even Marca, the sleaziest wolf in Myddgard, ignored him. Female pups were beginning to avoid him like he was the plague. He'd only just heard from his older brother, Luick, that the faes were spreading rumors, saying that he (Hades) was so desperate that he'd go for a pup! It had disgusted him!
"Why?" Hades groaned. The groan quickly turned into a snarl and he lashed out a the water, scarring the smooth surface of the moon. "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ME."

¨In the darkness it lurks,© ¨Looking for the next victim.© ¨Run my dear friend,© ¨Back to your sanctum.© ♫▬♫ A slight movement of the brushes, the faintest rustle of leaves then a snapping twig was heard. Though that was all, the only warning one had that the mischeif maker and secret lover was there. Black fur shimmering under the moonlight and glimmering with hues of purple it seemed; the color of a freshly washed, shiny raven's wing was the fur upon the fey; well, all despite for the white star stealthily residing upon her forehead, though it stood out well.
♫▬♫ Gently her paws hit the earth, slapping against it with each step the Betess took into these lands. This had been where she'd seen Dark again and learned of Alue being here, though not of the Njal. Sadness swamped the fey for a mere moment but soon all that cleared up and a smile was placed upon her gentle face once again.
♫▬♫ Delicately she took another step forward, sniffing the ground and catching scent of another. New to the lands was she, still learning who who was and where things were, yet Rayn was quite persistant in her journeys. The scent lead through the bushes and forest loitery, yet naturally the femme fatale followed the scent to investigate.
♫▬♫ Coming through her eyes went up to see a forlorn looking male sitting by water. Sympathy flooded through her for a moment as she pricked her ears forward and hesitantly took another step forward. Never had Rayn been able to not help out when someone was down or hurt, no matter who it was or had been. That just didn't fly with her and it wouldn't now; standing up straighter the vixen headed forward into the den of the lion.
♫▬♫ "Hello there, I'm Rayn. Betess of the Njal packs, who are you if I may ask?" Lulling, gentle, and silken voice singing forth in that lyrical way that was so soothing to one's ears once they heard it, a lure. Sympathetic blue eyes landed on him whilst she went forth, smaller than he, as often the female was with others, though she gave a smile to him that was quite warming if one truly looked. "You seem alone and in need of company, mind if I join you?" Wagging her plume gently her eyes gazed about before returning once again back to the male sitting before her. Then, patiently she awaited his answer. ¨The Huntress is hear,© ¨Stalking her prey.© ¨Closing in near,© ¨Caught today!©

Hades spun around, alarm apparent on his face. For the briefest second, every ounce of anger left his body and the awe of this beautiful creature overtook his senses. And then she continued to introduce himself and he felt more lonely than ever.
The Betess of my own pack and even she doesn't know me. Am I, like, some invisible force?
He lowered his head in a mixture of greeting and submission, hoping that it would match her likings. He wasn't in the mood for any elaborate shows of rank or any prissy dance moves to show how "happy" he was feeling. He just sat there, his tail thumping the ground once, with his eyes fixed on hers.
"I am Hades Burr, hunter of the Njal," he said, his shoulders sagging a bit more with each word. He didn't have a lovely title like hers and his name was the mark of his grandfather, a killer. "It would be an honor to have you join me."
He turned back to the river, watching as the last ripples of water smoothed into a shiny mirror. The moon was there again, staring at him as if to say "You loser!". The stars egged it on, shimmering like little fireflies. Hades wished silently for the Betess to go away so he could punch the face of the hanging white ball again. His usual respect for the sky had disappeared on this night.

Sadness crossed the femme's features as she saw him act even more so sad than before. Looking to the ground she thought alone to herself again another is hurt... How long will others be pained at my faulty? Quietly, gently she touched her maw to his shoulder in a motion of friendship. "Please, disreguard my title Hades, it is just a mere word I'm no better nor lower than you." It was a faint whisper, yet there was a soft, undertone of a pleading note in there while her large blue globes gazed up to him, hoping he would cheer up.
"I'm new to these lands so I do not know all to much about our pack you see, quite the clueless one when it comes to other wolves. Though strategies and what not I was gifted with." A smile lit her face while she looked to him again then gazed up to the moon and sighed, a shadow of anguish dashing across her expression before dissolving back into that quiet, closed off female as she'd been once she'd entered.
"I should be the one honoured to join you Hades Burr, and I'm quite fond of your name... It flows and is quite lovely." Looking up to the male she let a small smile flit across her face before looking to the ground, wishing to help cheer him up. Truly, all in all she wasn't all to swell at talking with othes and wasn't considered your social butterfly or the one to talk your ear off. No, instead she was the quiet ghost until something angered her or she disagreed, in this case though cheering up someone.
"So, why're you alone out here if I may be so nosy and ask Hades Burr," twinkling up to him she slowly sat and wrapped her tail around her paws to help keep warmed up.
OOC: Bleh, sorry my muse just...died -.-

Ooc; It's cool. X3
Hades let a small smile fall upon his face at her kind words, but he remained quiet. Rayn really was making him feel better, but he felt as though he didn't deserve this attention. She could be using her time to help someone much more precious than him. Yet it seemed as though she felt obligated to cheer him up... She was doing a good job... Until she asked him why he was out and alone.
He sighed and looked back at the moon's reflection, wondering exactly how much she knew. Had she seen his fruitless attempts at love? Did she see the feminine body, but the male mind? Sometimes he wondered if anyone would ever understand who he truly was - a weak romantic, looking for someone to love him, someone who didn't mind putting up with the ridicule of having a male hunter as a mate.
"My search for love is useless," he begun begrudgingly. "Others have started rumors about me and, well, I needed to get away, I guess." He shrugged his black-furred shoulders and sighed again, his pale yellow eyes focusing on the smaller female now beside him. "What brings you out here?"

Rayn saw him slightly smile and it was a nice smile, he was gentle and kind. Why he was alone puzzled her completely though she didn't let that show all too much. Blue optics smiling still as she looked back toward the male with those doe-eyes and sweet expression upon her face. Her lithe form as slightly taken over by shivers for a moment with the cold raking through her petite frame. Quickly though the femme forced her body to stop quaking and shook her dome to free herself from other thoughts trying to plague it.
"I'm sorry about that Hades. They're blind though you know... You're quite charming and kind, you have a heart unlike most other males. Plus, one thing that is so hard to find in one, you have a heart." Love, Rayn knew the feeling of being without it well, for so long where she lived before had that happened to her.
Smiling up to him again she slightly nudged him in a somewhat playful manner. At the moment, probably no one would be able to believe the playful, gentle fey was a betess of the Njal pack. "I'm here out of sheer curiosity you could say. Boredom, there's nothing to do back at the pack and everyone is always out so I've not gotten a chance to meet others often." Chuckling softly her eyes shimmered and sparkled as the tinkling sound of her laugh ricocheted off of the water's surface and into the distance.

Hades had the strongest urge to serenade Rayn, as he often did when he was near a beautiful female. The urge was soon quenched when she nudged him and he remembered his troubles again. Playful was the closest he ever got to the opposite gender. Fortunately, it was always enough. Any attention at all made him feel slightly better.
"I'm often on the edge of things," he said quietly, smiling again at her musical laughter. "I have no idea what's going on, so don't worry about that. Besides, it's always the same - hunt, eat, sleep, hunt, eat, sleep... That might just be me though."
He let out a quiet laugh, but it was obviously strained. He didn't often like talking about his life with wolves of a higher ranking, but Rayn was nice and she didn't seem very betess-like.

She looked up to him and shook her head. "You must be lonely. How about we can start hunting together? That's what...friends are for, right?" Unsure of if he wanted her as a friend Rayn didn't quite know what to say, words always fumbled around in her mind and then everything came out wrong when she messed up or stumbled. Though she didn't have to worry about falling or tripping, how could one when sitting?
Hearing his strained laugh she sympathetically looked up before nuzzling his neck gently, her touch soothing and delicate as though only a feather brushed across it. His fur is so silky, she thought with a small giggle and that roguish grin. "Don't be afraid with me please Hades? I promise I won't hurt you," at the mere thought of hurting another Rayn's eyes saddened greatly, going from their bright blue to having storm clouds with grays in the depths.
Sighing she looked down and then laid on her stomach, again bringing her tail wrapping as best she could around her body to keep warm before letting out a small whimper of sorrow. How she yearned to make Hades Burr happy, to see him smile again would be a dream. All she'd said about him? Yeah, it was true and every word had come from her heart, with things like that Rayn wouldn't dare lie. That was just too terrible to even comprehend!
Gazing at the water again she saw the reflection of the stars, as well as that one star of white upon her forehead. She blended with the night, as if not even her own being during that time, yet somehow the female didn't ache for attention or strive for her own happiness. Though liking to be happy and please others she wouldn't do what was wrong either!

The gentle friendliness of Rayn made Hades fight back an ecstatic smile. She was being so kind! He didn't want to scare her off with his enthusiasm, but hunting was what he did best, she was the betess and she had called him a friend. With only a few flicks of her tongue, she had turned him from a sobbing mess into the happiest wolf in Myddgard.
"I would love to do some hunting," he said softly, standing at his own leisurely pace. She now seemed off in her own fairytale world, but he hoped to lull her out of it. "I know a few good places for summer rodents. There's one near-by, along the stream."
He gestured with his head towards a group of large round boulders. His yellow eyes were patient, while his black tail wagged slightly in anticipation. The thrill of the hunt always got to him, no matter the time, place or his mood. He just hoped that the betess wouldn't find this competitive edge frightening or unattractive, as most of his fellow hunters did.
