"Mama, may I please leave now?"
The heavy brown eyes of a fae searched for the source of the voice, finding it had come from a small brown pup called Sylvester. The young male wolf flashed his eyes in submission and quickly fell to the ground. His mother scared him when she was in this mood. She was angry, yet silent. Any moment now and she could erupt.
"Did you get me some of those wildflowers?" Miss Marca D'Bella asked in her sugary voice. "Did you powder them?"
"Yes, Ma," Sylvester said quietly, bringing forward a small leaf filled with brown powder. The dust emitted the strongest smell of lavender and freesia. "Here you go, Ma."
Marca watched as Sylvester dropped the leaf hazardously on the ground and escaped, his tail hanging low. Two other pups (both female) watched after him forlornly, wishing their duties could finish. These two could be considered runts, having been born smaller than their three siblings. They were given the most jobs due to their inability to fight of the larger of the pups.
An angry huff brought them both back to attention. Marca had raised herself into a sitting position, glaring down at her children.
"You, apply my perfume," Marca hissed, acknowledging one of the unnamed faes.
After a messy application and a sneezing fit, the last of Marca's present children dashed out through the dens door, howling about their new found freedom. They would have less than three hours before their mother's next grooming session. Unfortunately, it was not them who would be getting a bath.
Now, smelling as sweet as her voice, Marca made her way outside and into the crisp afternoon air. She couldn't be sure what season it was, simply because she did not care. She did, however, know that it was mating season, and plenty of handsome males would be out and about.
Good thing Luick is out looking for new pack members, she thought, any trace of emotion absent.
As subtly as possible, she began eying up one of the younger males in the pack. She hadn't met him yet. Perhaps he'd like some company. She stood and shook out her fur, making it obvious she was willing to be approached. Her tail twitched slightly as she felt eyes burning into her back.
Stupid females, she thought, casting a quick glance at the trio of pregnant wolves behind her. They're just jealous. Jealous they can't look this good.
