Valkyri blinked, darkness overtaking her vision for just one instant. As she opened them again, her vision was filled with the landscape before here. It was night, with no moon. Millions of stars sprinkled the sky like diamonds, set against a deep blue background. All this was reflected against the surface of the lochs below.
Val was on a low slung hill overlooking the chain of lakes. Their surfaces were like mirrors - cold and perfect. With a grunt, the female pulled herself up to her feet, shaking her pelt clean before descending the toward the water's edge. The air was cool and still; perhaps surprisingly cool for summer, but then, that was how she preferred it.
He steps rustled droplets of dew from the grass she waded through: tiny stars splashing to earth. It was said that the sky was never more beautiful than when viewed from Tyr's Knoll, the stargazing point, but tonight, with the sky blinking back at it's twin on the lake's surface, Val might have disagreed.
She hadn't come here to marvel at the heavens, though. Oh no. She'd come here to gather her thoughts and get a little peace. The female stopped as she drew next to the water, he feet now resting on gritty sand and pebbles. The lake was so... so calm. Another step forward, and she dipped her maw to the surface, lapping at the cold, clear liquid. Ripples spread out from her, breaking the perfection of the surface and making the stars dance. Struck by an idea, Valkyri lunged forward now, up to her chest in the cold water. It was a shock against her skin, but the disturbance on the mirror made her happy. Nothing could be that perfect, not for long.
Her white pelt stood out like a beacon in the inky, sparkling blue that was the night. If there had been a moon tonight, she could have been it's reflection. Bowing her head, she dipped her muzzle into the water and drank greedily. It was cool, flowing down her throat like a caress.

Weight shifting evenly, the big ivory brute slowly making his way to his destination. The brute took his time, life was long enough to walk slow for once. But sometimes life is full of surprises, and that's when you go fast, run faster, But sometimes when you run fast you run into a problem, one that will forever scar you. Take the right side of Zodiac face for instant, I mean its so messed up, no longer can see out of the right side of hiss face, and that world is forever covered in darkness, and there is nothing this wolf can do. But this brute does not where this scar in shame, nor sorrow. Oh my, on the contrary my dear fellow. This wolf wears it like its a noble trophy on his face, and that is okay. This wolf knows how to wear it too, like a fearless wolf. The wolf doesn't cry over a small appearance change, oh no he doesn't.
The white beast walked through the pack lands like he owned it, long strides, that carried him across the land, so smoothly. Head up to the sky, and muzzle touching the dazzling stars, the stars seemed to shined brighter tonight. Maybe its because the moon was out tonight, full. Brand new, it no longer covered up on of its sides, nothing to hide, nothing that was out of the ordinary. Zodiac sometimes wished how it could be to see out of his right eye. But those thoughts come to him rarely. The sky was darker then usually making the stars look brighter. Maybe that was why the did so. Or maybe there just happy to see the moon fully. I would be if I was a star.
As the brute kept moving forward, he thought more about his scar, some wolves may get the wrong impression that he was a bad wolf, I mean don't get me wrong he does have his faults, and can only trust so many wolves. But this wolf is a gentleman inside, try to give you the right impression even though you think other wise. The wolf can talk the talk, words seem to be this wolf most valuable skill, words can escape these wolf mouth like a crystal blue waterfall. It comes out so fluently, and how much it comes in hand. Zodiac felt rather proud of himself.
Step by step, slowly making his way, Zodiac walked in silence, even when a branched crunched under his paw was quiet, not making any noise. And the only noise that did erupt was the slight wind that pushed its way passed Zodiac and the trees and all the rest of the world. The wind moving quickly to get to its destination, which is probably a unknown place, which no one has found, Everything and everybody has somewhere to go. Even a simply rock, no mind of it own. When you kick a rock to the side it slowly gets closer to its destination, where to? I don't know, there are so many places to go in this big world, so many caves, hovels. It just goes to show we are always moving.
As the brute became tired of walking, energy build up inside him, slowly building since this morning, and now it wants to escape. A large grin spread across Zodiac's face, his strides getting longer and fast, until he speed of into the speed of sound. His breathing evening from the sudden movement. Energy fummed out of him, the hot air pushing back the thick white hairs on his face, the brute felt happier then he ever has been in for a long time, so why ruin it now? As the male zoomed the soil becoming damper and damper as he got closer to where he wants to go. The water began to make his paws wet, which felt good. Water was so close, which made him even more thirsty.
Zodiac slowed down, and he looked out and saw that he had made it, he looked at the big lochs of water. There was so much water that it fascinates the male wolf, so much water that the lochs had to store some water in the soil itself. How incredible. As the wolf neared the water, a scent filled his nose. How funny he didn't notice it before, he looked around for the suspect, he finally saw a femme. She had a dripping wet pelt, and she had her muzzle dipped in the water gulping down the water like it was hers. Zodiac moved closer, "And whom should you be?" Zodiac asked, he did not want to frighten the wolf, nor did he want to make it mad. So he sat back and waited for any remarks or a response.

Val's head snapped up, eyes falling on a white male standing at the shore. His words were what had caught her attention, and she chided herself for not noticing his approach. "And whom should you be?"
[/b] The words hung in the empty space between them. Valkyri flicked an ear back, her tail rising from the surface and a wry grin spreading across her muzzle. "Who am I?" She mimicked his question, her own voice a clear alto, coloured with impish amusement. She pranced a few steps forward. It was difficult to walk normally with water hanging at her legs and making them heavy. She cocked her head to the side for a moment, studying this newcomer. His pelt was a splendid, nearly flawless white. Hers was brighter, yes, but unlike she, he was not an albino - simply a white wolf, and quite a specimine. A jagged scar slashed its way across one of his eyes; the other watched her intently. Valkyri stopped as she neared the shallows and shook herself, a spray of tiny stars leaping away from her as the droplets caught the moonlight. She'd never seen this wolf before, and she wondered what his reason was for being here - if he were a loner, wandering into her lands; a rival; or simply looking to join up. "I'm called Valkyri. I'm the alphess of these lands." No muss and fuss here - she was to the point. Pomp and circumstance had never been her style, unlike her predecessors. Her rank, and the fact that she managed to hold these lands and this pack on her own, ought to say everything that needed to be said about her, as far as she was concerned. Those who made a point of needlessly formal introductions could hold council with the gods, as far as she cared. The gods, beings whose need for celebrity and worship, as well as blood, has seen them torn from their thrones. Somewhere on the opposite shore, a screech owl sent up its strange, keening cry. Away to the south, another responded, barely audible. It was a bad omen, as far as some were concerned. Val was hardly that superstitious. "And who, exactly, are you?" She asked. there was a playfulness to the question, but her garnet eyes were serious and calculating, still unsure of this stranger, and her posture was held proudly. .................. Muse: Fairly good, actually! Notes: Val's going to end up being quite a lot like Starbuck, before Starbuck got all sad and angry at the world. None of that means anything unless you've watched BSG <3 [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Zodiac back up as the she wolf head flew up, he wonder if he had frighten her? When her pools meant his, that thought suddenly blow up in flames, and it no longer existed in his mind. These femme did not look like she be the frighten one, no not at all.The way she stands, they way she stares you into the eyes makes all those senseless thoughts vanish. This pure white she wolf stood with dignity and strength. Zodiac complimented her secretly for that, she took a few steps forward, inspecting the strange brute before her. He lifted up his skull, his eye peering down at her. What does she think of this... new comer? Does she think he is worthless? Does she think he is a quite nice to look at? That be nice if she did, Zodiac is rather faund on how easy she is to look at, and he can't deny that she has beauty beyond those fierce looking eyes, Zodiac even spotted the grin across the femme face. Oh, how much he wish he could read minds.
"Who am I?" The femme repeated, Zodiac bushed is 'eyebrows' together, was she mocking him? Does she have enough interest to the thing that falls in front of her? Maybe Zodiac is something femme doesn't want to see now, or ever. He was somewhat shocked, and he lowered his head. He kept a sharp stare at the fae. Figuring out what those eyes are hiding, what her mind is processing. He couldn't help himself but to wonder, and maybe he was trying to hard. His head my pop off from the intense thinking that was going through his head. A chuckle rumble through the male body at thinking of that. Thinking was another skill that he had, he thinks to often, sometimes that can get him in trouble if not focused. It seemed the femme was still looking at him, Zodiac didn't let his stare lose grip, he was most interested in this she wolf. So different but yet, so appealing.
The she wolf shook her pelt, and it reminded him of those scene of the girl giving a nice hair flip in slow motion. Watching the sparkles of the glittering water slowly moving off the hair it used to drip off. Zodiac grinned, and rose his head again, and he ears now perked forward, once again he felt like this place was his, but he simply knew it wasn't which was rather upsetting, but one day power may be his? Maybe, you never know. The future is unpredictable. Always changing from the actions you do, or things you say.
"I'm called Valkyri. I'm the alphess of these lands." Was Zodiac surprised by these words? Was he stunned that this femme could control these lands? Why, no he thought the opposite. He saw this fae had aplhess material, she had all the right features, he saw so much leadership flowing through this wolf's veins, and it was incredible that he wasn't mad of someone else being in power beside him, he was somewhat dumbfound with himself. This isn't regular Zodiac here, he thought this femme was absolutely amazing, and he didn't know why.
"Oh, I always like meeting the ones on top. I'm honored to be conversing with you. I must say you are the perfect fit for alphess. You always had it flowing through your blood since you were young... I can see that." Zodiac said in a noble tone, his skull held high, his body not slacking at all, his posture straight and neat, he doesn't know of the word 'slouching' only 'pose' and 'proper'. For he is the sight off a Royal, this femme was the queen to him and everything else the moved, breathed, or twitched on this land. He then thought of the femme name, "Valkyri." He repeated, "What a noble name for noble creature like you, Valkyri." Her named rolled off his tongue like honey. He was only speaking the truth, not trying to flirt, no of course not. He just couldn't help himself compliment Valkyri.
"And who, exactly, are you?" Zodiac heard the words that Valkyri spoke, Zodiac thought for a moment, he knew who he was, but still why not think upon it? "Call me Zodiac. I come to join your pack? I be honored if your accept me, but I do not chose your decision." He bowed his head to honor Valkyri. Zodiac lifted his cranium and stared back into the dazzling eyes of the alphess.

Valkyri listened as the male spoke. His words held quite a lot of praise. It was something that would normally have bothered Valkyri, but he sounded as if he were genuinely earnest, rather than seethingly trying to win favour. Still, the words fell strangely to her ears - she was unused to them. Few spoke openly to her in that way - few had spoken to her so openly besides her own family, in fact. They had never had such lofty things to say. Val moved closer to Zodiac, comfortably sure that he wasn't going to snap and attack her. She could still feel the lake's water, cold against her skin, the last drops slithering against her as she moved. She was dry enough for her tastes, though.
The alphess nodded when Zodiac introduced himself, and gave a wry smile. "Welcome then, Zodiac. Eyrie is small, but we are strong, and we are free. Tell me, how much do you know of us, and the other pack that borders us?" Her eyes were fixed on him now, studying him as she spoke. He was a handsome specimen to say the least - well muscled, and larger than the average wolf of this climate. She'd seen his breed before, creatures of the north, of ice and snow. She had to wonder why he'd chosen Njal over Eyrie - Eyrie's climate would have been more suited for him. She asked him what he knew not because she needed information, but because she was curious how he would answer. Valkyri was of the opinion that you could learn a lot about a wolf by his or her responses to simple questions. Body language and subtle hints went a long way into helping her form her opinion of others.
Although, at the moment, his body language was doing most of the talking. Or, rather, just his body. She felt herself easily distracted by him, and more prone to coy games than her normally business-like determination. Chalk it up to the lack of decent males around here, she thought to herself. The first nice looking one that comes around puts you in a spin, does it Val? That's not like you at all. She smiled again, waiting for his response. Still, no one ever said I can't have a little fun, did they? The thought made her feel mischievous, and a little excited.
Above them, the sky remained, filled with its host of stars. The tiny points of light seemed almost to live, as brightly as they shone and as much as they sparkled. Val's eyes found the Hgih Star, just behind Zodiac's silhouette. The high star rose to the same place in the sky each night, never turning with the seasons like the others. It was bright, like a beacon, and for a moment Valkyri remembered the tales she'd been raised on. Tales, not of gods, but of brave warriors, like her grandfather Fenrir, following the star home and carving new freedoms for his pack. It was that freedom Valkyri was sworn to uphold, and the determination to do so that burned within her, brighter than any star. Njal would be great once more. That was her calling. Whatever she felt for this wolf before her, she would not let an Alpha lead at her side until she was entirely sure of him. What an alpha meant to the pack was more important than what an alpha meant to her, and Valkyri would allow no male to stand between her and her destiny.
This Zodiac may have been pleasant to look at and keep company with, but she did not know him yet. Perhaps he was material for a romance - it was likely enough. But Val had decided when she'd come of age that she'd rather have flings than a mate, unless she was entirely sure of any potential mate's leadership capabilities. And besides - flings had their benefits. Although she'd never been in this position before, the proposition of it excited her a little.
Not that any of that was close to being set in stone yet. She barely knew this wolf, barely knew where things might lead. Perhaps he'd just be another pack member. Still, she liked him so far....

Muse: YEAH! Notes: Oh Val, what are you getting yourself into, silly girl... XD

The male brute watched as small drops of water slid down Valkyri's pelt, he watched the small drops dripping from the furs of her under belly, the water mirrored everything it looked at. Like tiny little eyes moving across the femme body. Zodiac narrowed his eyes to see what the drops where even looking at, he was rather surprised to see the small mirrored image of himself. He seemed to distorted in some way. He moved his eyes with the drop of water that was slowly sliding down her pure white pelt. He looked at his face and saw his scare, he smiled when he looked at himself. He was different of course but that wasn't something to be sad about, his body was rather large. He was a nice ivory color, but he never found himself good to look at, there was noting special him. He was a ordinary wolf seeking for the power.
Power, power is just a word to other wolves. But to Zodiac power is more then just five letter word. Power is everything to Zodiac. Power hungry, he is simply power hungry. He feels rather good today so he does not care about anything but this female that stands before him. But on bad days he is angry, and he wants power, and he can't control his temper, and he doesn't like that. He hates when he is like and defiantly when wolves are around him, he feels stupid, and ignorant. Zodiac is more then a fucked up face gentle wolf. He has a dark obsession with power that lays deep inside his body, it is his secret, he could only tell the one he loves, and believes in. He has yet to find such a wolf, when will his time come to tell his obsession?
Zodiac eyes traced back up the white body of Valkyri, he meant her lovely eyes, and forgot what he was just thinking of. All his dark fears disappear when he stares in to the hypnotic eyes of Valkyri, it was like his personal dream catcher, but a... thought catcher? Zodiac chuckled at his stupid thought. See he was already feeling better! Was it true? Valkyri eyes hold something valuable for master Zodiac? If so... was it just a faith that brought him here then the other pack? The other pack had more members, probably strong. But this pack had a strong leader, and it will thrive over the other pack, but is there something else that led him here?
"Welcome then, Zodiac. Njal is small, but we are strong, and we are free. Tell me, how much do you know of us, and the other pack that borders us?" Zodiac thought of the question, what did he know? Is he simply not acceptable to have here? Zodiac thought in his mind, oh what the heck. "Ah, I don't know much, so I must be taught. But what I do know is that the other pack is fairly larger, but doesn't have the leader that this pack possesses. And having a strong leader is more important then having more members." Zodiac spoke, his words like fine crystallized water. He spoke the truth, it was rather sad that he didn't know much about the pack, and the pack that boarder their lands.
"I do apologize for my lack of knowledge, but I'm open to learn, and if I'm found useless to you, then I will leave your presence, and move on with my life some where else." Zodiac said, he would probably leave the lands. Never returning to this place, or he would forever be a loner. Stalking the outer lands like a alien. With nothing else to do, he thought about it. He never thought about what he would do if he was not accepted, he didn't think it would possibly happen... Which is a bad thing.
He said nothing more, he felt he said enough, and all rest in the hands of Valkyri. She ruled these lands, and that was final. He could not change what cannot be change. Stupid saying but it was true, and he went by the phrase a lot, most of his life is based of that. But his life is based of revenge, and stupidity too. Mostly revenge I guess you can say, and pride follows with him too. Rather have pride then nothing at all. Zodiac waited for Valkyri to speak, it seemed like hours passed when only seconds ticked by. It annoyed the brute, but that was normal. He just kept his focus on Valkyri, which kept him entertain for the time being.
